Grades 5-7
Grades 8-10
Join us in this workshop as we examine biology from a
different angle. . . through a microscope. While classes in
microbiology often focus primarily on bacteria and protista, this
class in microscopy will explore the minute details of
multi-cellular organisms that are invisible to the naked eye.
Students will have a chance to see the microscopic structures that
affect the big picture of biology. This workshop will include
extensive use of high-quality microscopes, preparation of slides,
and instruction with a photographic microscope. All materials will be
provided. Previous studies in biology are not required.
This week long series of workshops will be taught twice a day. In an
effort to better benefit each student and direct the material
and discussions to the appropriate age groups, grades 8-10
will be taught from 9:00-11:00 and grades 5-7 will be taught at 11:30-1:30. These grade
distinctions are "guidelines"; for example, it may be
more convenient for siblings (even though they're in different grades)
to attend the same workshop.
This is a one week series of workshops, taught
Monday-Friday, two hours each day.
Class size is limited and registration is on a
first-come, first-served basis.
