(Grades 5th - 6th)
(Grades 7th - 8th)

February 25 - 29

Let’s look at the big picture of science by looking at the small details that govern it. This five-day course will explain the fundamental building blocks essential to all disciplines of science. Students will be introduced to the periodic table and the properties of various elements. Through discussion and experimentation, they will understand how the characteristics of  atoms and molecules are responsible for scientific laws such as Bernoulli’s principle and capillary action, Boyle’s Law and several others.  By discussing scientific methods and the early scientists that developed them, students will realize the importance of understanding scientific methodology instead of reinventing the wheel. This is a class for inquisitive minds who enjoy science experiments.

This workshop will be offered for two grade ranges and the material will be appropriately tailored for grade range.

Grades 9th - 12th

This semester-length lab offers home school students the opportunity to experience a hands-on approach to science. The lab is designed to supplement any high school biology course. It is highly recommended that students coordinate the topics of this lab with concurrent independent study in a text book.  Students will receive a syllabus and and an assignment, so that they come to each lab with some understanding of the topic.  Students will have the opportunity to participate in class discussions, lectures, perform dissections, conduct experiments and work with microscopes. The goal of this workshop is to make text-book science come to life.

Class size is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

This is designed to be a two semester course. The second semester will be taught Jan-May 2008.

(Grades 2nd-4th)

Let's study a discipline of science that relates directly to you......THE HUMAN BODY!. In this five-day series of workshops, students will become familiar with the major systems and organs in the human body. Through projects, dissections (of sheep organs)  and demonstrations, students will have a hands-on opportunities to visualize the mechanics of the human anatomy. No previous science study required.

Class size is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
